Actiflu Syrup is primarily prescribed to treat perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis and other allergic symptoms including urticaria. Actiflu Syrup is an antihistamine that works by blocking the action of histamine in the body.
It is used for relieving symptoms of sinus pressure, sinus congestion, runny nose, itching of the throat and nose, watery eyes, and sneezing due to upper respiratory infections, hay fever, and allergies.
Some adverse effects of this drug include confusion, anxiety, restlessness, blurred vision, dry mouth, decreased coordination, and irritability. Before using this medication you should notify your doctor if you have or are:
Allergic to this drug
Taking or have taken sodium oxybate, furazolidone or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor within the last 14 days
Breathing problems, glaucoma, heart problems, liver disease, high blood pressure, etc
You can take this drug in the form of a tablet, capsule, or liquid form by mouth with or without food. This medicine is usually recommended only for a short time until your symptoms are cleared. Do not take it for longer than 7 days in a row.
May cause drowsiness; swallow whole, do not crush or chew sustained-release product; avoid alcohol, may impair coordination and judgment. Chronic use of antihistamines will inhibit salivary flow, particularly in elderly patients; this may contribute to periodontal disease and oral discomfort.
Stability: Incompatible when mixed in the same syringe with calcium chloride, kanamycin, norepinephrine, pentobarbital.
Actiflu Syrup is contraindicated in patients with Hypersensitivity to chlorpheniramine maleate or any component; narrow-angle glaucoma; bladder neck obstruction; symptomatic prostate hypertrophy; during acute asthmatic attacks; stenosing peptic ulcer; pyloroduodenal obstruction. Avoid use in premature and term newborns due to possible association with SIDS.
