Axacef 250 MG Tablet is an antibiotic medicine that contains cefuroxime. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin, bladder, etc. It is also used to treat a sexually transmitted disease caused by Neisseria gonorrhoea bacteria that infects both men and women. It kills the bacteria, thereby stops the infection from spreading. Axacef 250 MG Tablet is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Your doctor may advise this medicine alone or in combination with other medications to treat bacterial infections.
Axacef 250 MG Tablet may cause side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Contact your doctor if these symptoms persist. Do not take this medicine if you are previously allergic to it. Axacef 250 MG Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age.
Axacef 250 MG Tablet is recommended to take with food to avoid gastric irritation. Your doctor will decide the dose of this medicine based on the severity of your infection. For the ease of remembering, take this tablet around the same time every day. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment. Taking an antibiotic when it is not required can make it less effective in treating further infections.
Axacef 250 MG Tablet desired effect may not be achieved when taken with medications like antacids or proton pump inhibitors. Therefore, take Axacef 250 MG Tablet at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking such medications. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, before using Axacef 250 MG Tablet.
